What We Learned

Friday 2 August 2019, 12:00pm

It’s the end of the Beach Club week! We look forward to seeing you again on Sunday for our special Beach Club service at West Mersea Free Church.

Now we’ve reached the end of the week, here’s a quick summary of what we’ve learned:

On Monday as we started looking at some events in the life of Jesus, we saw Jesus preparing to start his years of teaching and healing people.

As he was baptised by John (where we discover that he is God’s son) and then when he faced difficult choices in the desert, we can see that Jesus is like us. He was tempted, but because he loved God more he did not listen to Satan.

Have you ever asked Jesus for help?

Tuesday’s story was the amazing account of Jesus turning water into wine at a wedding. As the servants followed Jesus’ mother Mary’s instructions to listen to Jesus, it made it possible for the miracle to happen.

It is a very good thing if we take notice of the things Jesus said. I think one of the best things he said is found in John 3:16:

For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die, but have eternal life.

Do you believe in Jesus?

On Wednesday, as we learned about the story Jesus told of the lost son, we can see how God is like the dad in the story; generous, kind and loving. Just as the lost son, we can also come to our God and become a child of God – a Christian.

If this is what you want, will you become a child of God?

Thursday, we saw how friendship is good in our lives as the paralysed man’s four friends dropped him through the roof at Jesus’ feet. Jesus forgave the things he had done wrong and then went on to heal him so that he could walk again.

From Jesus’ point of view, the thing we need most is to have our mistakes forgiven.

Have you asked Jesus for forgiveness?

Finally, on Friday, we looked at Jesus visiting the disciples after his resurrection and how Thomas didn’t believe him unless he had evidence.

We find Jesus saying to us too: “stop doubting and believe.”

Will you believe what the Bible says about Jesus?

We pray that you will come to know Jesus as your saviour and friend and decide to become a Christian. If you would like help in understanding what this means and would like to talk about it, please speak to one of the Beach Club team, your group leader or get in contact with us (contact@merseabeach.club) or any of our local churches.

You will be made very welcome at any of the churches on the island, where you can learn more about following Jesus and find help in your journey of life.

Information about services and youth activities is available online, or in your Beach Club booklet.

On behalf of the Beach Club Steering Group and Beach Club Team, I wish you every blessing and thank you for coming to Beach Club.
