Data Protection & Privacy Policy

Privacy statement

For data protection purposes, Mersea Beach Club has the following privacy statement which parents/guardians attending Beach Club events accept. The same statement is included in the ‘Information for Parents and Guardians’ leaflet given to parents/guardians upon arrival at Beach Club.

The data we hold includes names, addresses, ages, medical information and emergency contact information.

We hold this for the duration of Beach Club and to the December of the same year, if you consent to your child receiving a Christmas card from Beach Club. This information is stored as your registration form, which is kept in a locked cabinet and destroyed after the cards are sent, or immediately after Beach Club if you have chosen not to receive a card.

Usage of our website

By using our website, you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions, including our policies on privacy and copyright. If you use any additional websites by the Beach Club organisation, you will remain to be bound by these conditions.

Images on this website

We have images and photography of children and young people, as well as cartoon pictures and photos of Bible stories. Where possible, permission to use the images has been granted from the people captured in the photo, or in regards to cartoon images, the original author.

Images of children & young people

Upon enrolment to Beach Club, parents complete forms in which they are asked whether they are willing for Beach Club to use images or recordings of their child or young person. Where permission has been granted (in accordance with our policy on the use of such images), we are able to use these images on this website and social media.

Where permission has not been granted, we will do our best to avoid capturing images of such individuals, and thus no such images will appear on our website.

If you are concerned about any image on our website or social media, or wish for an image of your child to be removed from our website, please report the image in question by contacting us (contact@merseabeach.club).

You can view the entire policy by clicking here.

Images of the public (adults)

Our photography is taken in public places or on private land owned by Beach Club or a partner organisation. In the public places where photography may be taken, it is unlikely that an adult can expect privacy, and on private land, the landowner has given permission for photography to be taken.

Although we aim to avoid taking photography of members of the public, this is not always possible.

It would be unreasonable for Beach Club to ask the permission of every adult on the beach, and so should you object to your photo being taken, please speak to a member of the Beach Club team. If you are concerned about any image of you on our website or social media, please contact us (contact@merseabeach.club).

Other images

We have images accompanying Bible stories on our website. The images sourced are credited in captions beneath the image on the relevant page. Where possible, licencing arrangements regarding the images have been viewed and the usage of the images complies with such agreements. Any objections to the use of such images can be made to contact@merseabeach.club.

Your privacy on our website

We respect your privacy, and we take care of any data you give us when participating in our activities, attending our services, or using our website. We are compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Church Trustees of West Mersea Free Church are the Data Controller, and can be contacted by emailing dataprotection@merseafree.church.

If you are concerned about the way your information is being handled please speak to our Data Protection Trustee. If you are still unhappy you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (the ICO).
