Peter could not stop talking about Jesus. “Jesus is God’s son. He died on a cross but three days later, he was alive again. Isn’t it wonderful?”

The king did not like Peter telling everyone about Jesus. He put Peter in prison.
The king said to his soldiers, “Put chains on Peter’s hands and feet! Guard all the doors! Don’t let him escape.”
But Peter’s friends were praying that God would look after Peter – and God did!
One night, when Peter was asleep, a bright light shone suddenly. The chains fell off Peter’s arms and legs. “Wake up and get dressed quickly,” an angel said.

Peter did what he was told, and the angel led Peter past all the soldiers and out of the prison. To start with, Peter thought he was dreaming. He went to the house where he knew his friends were praying.
“Open the door!” he shouted, “It’s me, Peter.”
One of the friends recognised Peter’s voice and she rushed to tell everyone praying.
“It’s Peter. He’s free.”
The others did not believe her at first, but when they opened the door, everybody knew that God had looked after Peter, just as they had asked him to.
